New Stadium Being Built 3

Spurs New Stadium: Latest Photos of the Roof Lift

As we approach the turn of April the date of the New Spurs Stadium‘s grand opening draws ever closer. Over 2,100 workers have put in tireless shifts, night and day, to ensure that Tottenham Hotspur stick by their deadline and can have the fabulous new venue open for the start of the 2018/19 Premier League season.

Tottenham Hotspur have published new photos across their social media accounts today of how the Stadium is looking this week. It is the roof lift that is the most striking development, as it really has started to give the Stadium its final elliptical shape.

As many keen supporters who have been monitoring the erection of the stadium closely will know, the roof lift is a process that has taken over a couple of weeks and is still underway. There is a few reasons why the roof lift is so important and so difficult to execute. The roof totals 287 glass sections and 810 roof cassettes. When the roof is raised, the entire structure will weigh approximately 600 tonnes; a total force of 20,000 tonnes will be used to lift the roof using heavy-set tension cables. The elliptical-shaped roof is compromised of 324 LED lights that will provide the floodlighting for the whole stadium. So as you could expect, its lift is no easy job.
