Bournemouth vs Spurs – Premier League – 11.03.18 – Preview

Match Preview – Bournemouth vs Spurs

After a tough mid-week defeat to Juventus in the Champions League Tottenham Hotspur will travel to Bournemouth on Sunday to try and further cement their position in the all-important top-four positions in the Premier League that would qualify them for Europe. The defeat to Juventus ended their 17-match unbeaten streak.

The last time these two teams met in the Premier League was in October, when Christian Eriksen scored the only goal of the game at Wembley Stadium. Begovic won Man of the Match in that performance with a string of blinding saves for the Cherries. Refresh your memory of how that fixture unfolded by reading our match report here.

Spurs have managed to score 13 goals in their 5 Premier League clashes with Bournemouth and have won four of those five times.

Injuries and Team News

Jordon Ibe, Tyrone Mings and Mark Pugh are all still suffering with injuries for Bournemouth and are therefore unlikely to start on Sunday. However, we might see a return from Pugh and Ibe, perhaps off the bench, as they are coming close to overcoming their respective calf and thigh injuries.

Toby Alderweireld has made a few appearances in the FA Cup, but still lacks full fitness following the serious injuries to his hamstring and thigh. It is unlikely that Toby will feature in this clash. Eric Dier was substituted on Juventus so it is possible he may not make the starting line-up.

Form

Tottenham Hotspur have been in impressive form in the Premier League as of late, and currently occupy 4th position in the league with 58 points. They are 5 points ahead of Chelsea in fifth, 2 points behind Liverpool, and only 4 points behind Man Utd in second. Spurs will have to keep their heads on Sunday afternoon as they play after the teams around them in the League.

Bournemouth have too been on good form in the Premier League and have only lost 1 in their previous 6 games. Bournemouth are currently 12th in the Premier League with 33 points, just a point behind Brighton and Everton who both have 34.
