Christian Eriksen: April Premier League Player of the Month Nominee

April has been a mixed bag of results for Spurs. They managed three Premier League wins, one loss, one draw and an FA Cup defeat. However, there was one Spur that shone throughout the whole month, and that is the trusty midfield Dane – Christian Eriksen.

On the first day of April, Christian invigorated the Spurs comeback at Stamford Bridge with an unbelievable rocket just before the halftime whistle. That goal, along with Dele Alli’s from the same game, have both been nominated for the goal of the month award. Eriksen went on to grab goals against Stoke and Manchester City in the same month.

Check out his best bits from Tottenham Hotspur’s April fixtures here:

Christian Eriksen is one of seven footballers that have been nominated for the coveted award. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, former Lilywhite Jake Livermore, England international Jordan Pickford, Paul Pogba, Raheem Sterling, and striker Wilfried Zaha have all been nominated for stand out performances.

Rather astonishingly, if Christian Eriksen wins, this would be the midfielder’s first ever Premier League Player of the Month award! Spurs fans will be perplexed by this stat as he has been so instrumental and consistent ever since he arrived at White Hart Lane all those years ago.

Christian Eriksen is currently on 10 goals and 10 assists for this season – which stands as his record amount of goals in a Premier League season. Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to hang on to Christian after an impressive season. With Andres Iniesta announcing that he will be concluding his tenure at Barcelona at the end of the season, rumours have sparked that the Spanish giants will try to invest in Eriksen as his replacement. One of the greatest skills this incredible player has is his vision – as well as his comfortability on the ball. Eriksen would suit the Barca style of play nicely: he can attack on demand or sit back and ping balls through with jaw-dropping accuracy.

Eriksen is vital to the Spurs operation

For now this transfer rumour is still in its infancy, but has begun to circulate its way around the UK’s major newspapers. As a blind guess, it would seem that Eriksen is the sort of player that would value loyalty over money – and would stay at Spurs as they move into the New Stadium and attempt to establish themselves as consistent league-winning contenders. No doubt if Barca did throw their name in the hat they would whisper a figure into the ear of Eriksen’s agent that would make any sane man stop and question his current commitments.

But he enjoys his position at Spurs and the whole Spurs community loves the Great Dane. Congratulations Christian Eriksen on your nomination – a long overdue recognition of your unquestionable talent.
